The New Volkswagen Golf R

The New Volkswagen Golf R

16th October 2009
VW have taken the ever popular Golf to another level with the Golf R, the most powerful Golf to ever hit the streets. This thing really shifts with a 2.0 TSI 270PS lump under the bonnet, we say lump but the engine is actually 35kg lighter than the Golf R32. The blistering acceleration will squeeze you back into your seat with a 0 to 62 mph in a mere 5.7 seconds and a maximum speed of 155 miles per hour ensures this car is not for the faint hearted.

With all this power does it have the handling and control to match I hear you say? Well, yes it does! Not only does the Golf R have a new unique four wheel drive system to reduce wheel spin but the power steering has been tweaked in favour of a razor response, not to mention the new 345mm front / 310mm rear brake discs and callipers
provide extremely effective stopping power.

So it's certainly got the speed and performance but has it got the looks? Of course it has, VW have lashed the Golf R with bags of exterior and interior styling including 18" alloys as standard, swept back Xenon headlights surrounding the black grill and fashionable LED lights.

This car is certainly worth checking out even if you're not a Volkswagen fan, you'll find it at you local VW dealer early next year.
